Students at Nimitz were visited by local fire fighters during Fire Prevention Week.  The were taught the importance of fire safety and what to do during an emergency.  Students were also given a close up look at the fire truck and all of its equipment.  Thank you to the Kerrville Fire Department for their time.

Patriots Day 9/11/2015

Patriots Day

Nimitz students, staff and parents gathered around the flag pole on 9/11/2015 to honor those who lost their lives during the tragedy of 9/11/2001.  A Boy Scout troop raised the Flag and let everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.  Mrs. Tiemann spoke about the the events of 9/11/2001, and a parent, who was one of the firemen who responded and helped look for survivors at ground zero, talked about the tragedy and why this is such an important day.  Thank you to all who attended the flag raising and who support our country.  And a heartfelt thank you and tribute to those who were affected by the tragic event.

2014-2015 School year

Once again, the PTO did a great job planning and organizing the Nimitz Fall Carnival.  The turnout was wonderful.  Our families and staff enjoyed a wonderful evening with lots of fun and food.  Among the attractions were game booths, food, cake walk, silent auction and raffle.  There was a new attraction added this year.  The Kerrville 4-H came and set up a petting zoo and it was a huge hit with our families.

A great big THANK YOU goes out to all the parents who helped.  We had parents working all day to set and many who stayed late to help clean up.  Also, another great big THANK YOU to Capt. Hill and his Tivy ROTC cadets for manning the booths and helping with clean up.

Once again, the carnival was a HUGE success.  Go to the photo gallery to see more pictures.

Family Health and Fitness Night was a huge success. Students and their families enjoyed working on healthy activities and participating in games of fun and fitness.   The students worked very hard to complete all of the activities so they could receive their toe tokens.  Thanks to Coach Lovelady and Coach Gotthardt for all of their hard work.  And thanks to all of the staff that were on hand to help out.

We had a great turn out at Open House.  Students were able to show off some of the work from the start of the school year.   Teachers gave the parents some valuable information about the upcoming school year.  Art teacher, Mrs. Mumme, had some great student art work on display in the hallway.
